Keep up to date with all the latest news happening in school at the moment.
Dear All,
I’m very excited to announce that Hawthorn Tree School has been selected as an Art World Records Ambassador, and we’d like to invite you to be part of breaking the world record for the largest online art lesson! This will be an official Guinness World Records title attempt so if we are successful, we will be making history...from home! Additionally, the project is raising money to help fight COVID-19 which is no doubt front of mind for us all.
The lesson will take place online on the 21st May at 4:00-4:30pm BST. It will be led by World Book Day author and childrens’ book illustrator, Rob Biddulph. You might know him from #DrawWithRob (as seen on BBC or all over social media) or his books, ‘Odd Dog Out’ or ‘Blown Away’. The lesson is free to join and suitable for everyone at home. To count towards the world record, all you need to do is register individually at www.artworldrecords.com and join Hawthorn Tree School on the day.
I’m aiming to get every one of our teachers, students and their families to attend. When we return to school, after months confined to our homes, wouldn’t it be great to be able to say that we were all part of breaking a world record!?
So please register at www.artworldrecords.com and pick up those pencils on the 21st May!
Thank you
Arts Team at Hawthorn Tree School
We have received our Aldi Kits for Schools bags! Thanks to your numerous purchases from Aldi earlier in the year, which allowed you to collect hundreds of stickers for us, we were able to fill THREE posters of inspiring sports personalities. In turn, we have been rewarded with THREE kit bags. The contents of the bags are great and will be used for our Sports Day this year as well as by our Playground Leaders! Thank you for supporting the school in all of our ventures!

Sports Report -
Isla and Connie were the media team for the Athletics competition. When we got to Peter Paine Sports Centre, we got given green bibs. So we're the green team. After that we did a warm-up with most athletics skills in it. The athletics competition events were a variety of track and field events including:
If someone did well in our team they felt very proud and the rest of team was very grateful to them for helping our team score.
Everybody had at least 2, 3 or 4 events. Everybody practiced after school with Mrs Ingamells and Mrs Rodgers so they knew what to do and were confident!
We had 3 races left. After the three races we got in lines of boys and girls and the host announced the results.
We want to congratulate the team because their hard work and great spirit to do well meant they came second bringing home silver medals and a trophy.
Quotes:
"We are surprised we came second in our race and feel very good about it" Alfie and Charlie
"We feel very good and surprised. We were determined to win" Jaxon and Tory
"I've done the over and under and chest push and am happy to be at the competition!" Nicole
Congratulations to all the participants in Wednesday's Hawthorn Tree School Bake Off. All the cakes looked fantastic and a great day was had by all.
A special well done to the star baker who won over the judges with his cupcakes which were packed with chocolate chips and covered in fondant icing shaped like candy canes and presents!
