Term 4

This term in DT we will be making robots using a range of materials, including a circuit light. In our English unit, our focus will be on superheroes, and we can’t wait to share some of our fantastic writing on our web page. In maths, we will be starting to look at fractions before moving on to mass and capacity. We will continue to assess our times tables knowledge throughout this time as the children are expected to know their 2s, 5s, 10s, 3s, 4s and 8 times tables by the end of year 3. In science, we will continue to learn about animals, including humans- particularly paying attention to the skeleton and organs that allow us to live. Our Geography unit will be all about earthquakes – exploring why earthquakes happen, some examples of earthquakes and what to do if you are unfortunate enough to experience an earthquake.

Half Term

Please make sure you read at least four times to an adult- you can read anything even a recipe or instructions for playing a game.
Make sure you complete at least 20 minutes of TTRockstars- 10 for this week, 10 for next week.

You can easily practice your tables by counting in 3s- sweets are great for this!
Enjoy

Mrs Palmer's School Values Poster Competition

This week, Mrs Palmer has launched a competition for all children to take part in. The children need to design a bright and colourful poster that displays our school values: Resilience, Respect, Diversity, Compassion and Innovation.

The winning poster will be professionally printed and displayed around our school.

Home Learning Activity

This term we are really pushing the skill of tying shoe laces. Please support us by encouraging your child to practice at home. Please see the poster with pictures below, or alternatively there are a range of online video / tutorials.

TTROCKSTARS HOMEWORK

Please ensure you are completing at least 10 minutes a week of TTRockstars. The logins on the front of the  Maths homework books.

Spring Term 1

This term our topic is Stone Age, where we will be exploring the different historical eras. The children will be creating cave paintings and dwellings, as well as finding out about what life in the Stone Age was like. In science, we will be exploring animals including humans through a variety of investigations. The children will be able to group and classify animals as well as identifying the functions of the human body. Our English writing focus is on Robots, where the children will be creating a piece based on Planet Unknown and linking this to our Art and DT topics. In Art, we will be looking at the artist Eric Joyner and using his work to inspire our own pieces. Our focus this term in maths continues with our multiplication and division learning, as well as applying this to solving reasoning problems. In order to support this, please remember to access TT Rockstars as this will benefit their understanding of multiplication and division. Weekly reading and spelling practice continues as part of the children’s homework.

A lovely introduction to our topic The Stone Age making homes.
