For your geography lesson today, use Google maps  https://www.google.co.uk/maps - to locate your local area (it may be useful to switch between the ‘terrain’ view and the ‘satellite’ view) - Boston Lincolnshire and zoom in.

Look out for any locations that have some of the place name endings.

KQ: Why do you think people chose these locations for their early settlements?

KQ: Is it by a hill, a valley, a ford?

Today you will be looking closely at some villages and evaluating why they were good settlements.

Use your Google map to locate three different villlages that have the place name of an early settlement, using the Place Name Origins sheet to help.  List these on the worksheet and answer the questions.
