Rehearsals for Young Voices January 2022 will start in September 2021. This is a fantastic, once in a lifetime opportunity, for our current year 4 and year 5 pupils. Click the link below for more information. Rehearsals will be after school on a Thursday until 4.30.
Good morning All,
Thank you for your understanding, not an ideal end to the term!
Please find below, work for today and tomorrow. As I am sure you can appreciate, we were unable to print the work for the children, at such short notice. If you do not have a printer, please do not worry, just open the documents and write on paper, to return when we come back. Alternatively, you could email me.
Final note - I do wish you all a super break, your children have worked extremely hard this term and I am very proud of their maturity, during this challenging time!
Take care and keep safe!
Mrs Scullion

World Book Day Event - 3rd March 2021
World Book Day is a celebration of stories. The day is marked in over 100 countries across the world. This year, I am delighted to announce, that the Arts charity Settle Stories has offered schools the opportunity to access a free online storytelling performance, which we will be streaming, to help our children have the best World Book Day ever with professional storyteller Alia Alzougbi. However, they are aware that many of you are learning from home and therefore have extended this offer to YOU! Hoorah!!! You do need to book your place, using the link below.
Arabic storyteller Alia will welcome our children to Ancient Arabia. Step into the story and be delighted for a mischievous hour as she recounts some of the lesser-known stories from the timeless collection of the Arabian Nights.
This will begin at 1.30 and finish at 2.15pm. I am aware that this will overlap with our Teams lesson but it is optional for that day. I am sure everyone will enjoy the performance. Thank you

Our best Primary content is organised by topic or theme to make it easy for you to find.

I have included the link below.
Mindfulness for children is more critical than ever; it can help to ease anxiety, stave off tantrums, improve concentration and sleep. Mindfulness is about being in the present, but also teaches children to access their emotions - the good, the bad, the ugly - to calm themselves or switch their perspective from a negative to a positive one.
Embrace a bit of unschooling - check out our 'Mindfulness/ Wellbeing' page, we hope this helps in some way! You can find this under the 'Additional - On Line Platform' section, where we will post videos, activities, stories and exercises on a regular basis, so make sure you check it out !
Take care, stay safe x

Hear Ye, Hear Ye!
Check out the stories on the 'Story Time', platform. Only if you want a giggle!
It was so lovely to see you all on Monday and we were thankful that we managed to spend some time with you all, before this new lockdown. These are difficult times, and we want you to know that we are here for you……..we can do this! The good news is that we will get to see each other on TEAMs. Hoorah!…..I hear you shout. So now we will look forward to seeing you every day on TEAMS instead! On Teams, we will be able to talk about the work that you have done and introduce new work to you.
Please look at the Grouping below to see which session you are required to attend. Online learning will take place between 12pm until 2pm each day.
We do realise the challenges that some of you may have experienced in the past logging on to TEAMs, so please do not hesitate in contacting me, via email. There is also a link on the school's web page, explaining how to access. Remember, your log in, for example, joe.bloggs@Hawthorn-tree.linc.sch.uk and your password is the initials in your name and the year you were born. So jb2011 or jb2012.
Each day the work you need to complete will be put on our class page on the Hawthorn Tree Website. This work will be the same as what is in the pack. If you check the webpage daily, you will know what you need to do each day.
Please take care and stay safe and we look forward to seeing you in our meetings soon.
Mrs Scullion, Mrs Millane, Mrs Rogers and Mrs Avison.

Hello everyone! Last day of term! You've done extremely well to keep up with your remote learning, and today is your last day of self-isolation so you'll be able to go out and enjoy half term.
I'm looking forward to seeing as many of you as possible on our Teams Meeting later. Well done to those of you who have already logged in and sent me a message to let me know you were successful! We will be exploring what we can do on Teams, and having a go at some maths together.
Today in science I am asking you to research some animals which are in danger of becoming extinct - you might remember that we started this when we had our last science lesson at school. I have posted the worksheet which you need to fill in. I gave everyone an animal to research during that lesson in school - have a look through the top trump pictures to find the animal I gave you, and do your research on that animal. Make notes - use your note taking skills we learned in English - ready to fill in your worksheet. Bring your notes and your completed worksheet into school after half term, and we will add them to the one that is already in your books.
I will also post the maths later on this morning for those of you not able to join our Teams meeting.
Good afternoon. Hope you've had a great morning getting on with your learning. I've been learning as well this morning! I've been learning how to set up Microsoft Teams, ready for tomorrow. Many thanks to Xavier and his mum who have helped me test it.
Please take time, with an adult, to check the information I posted yesterday (see below) and try to log in. You need to login with your school email. So for example, if Mickey Mouse was in our class (wouldn't that be fun?!) and he was born in 2012, his user name would be his email address which would be mickey.mouse@hawthorn-tree.lincs.sch.uk and his password would be mm2012. So just change that to your own name, and your password is your own initials and your year of birth.
Then once you're in, you'll see that there are 5 hidden channels. Click on this, and you can say hello to me on the 'Ask the Teacher!' channel. Please note, I've turned off the comments on the General Channel.
Good luck and let me know if you have problems, and I'll try to help, but do not leave it until tomorrow morning!!
Good morning! What a dreary Wednesday morning - not to worry, I've got lots for you to do to keep you busy!
In maths we are estimating answers, then I've got lots of tasks for you to complete for your Reading Comprehension on Teeth, and finally I've got a ppt for you to look at to help you edit your Robin Hood stories. Enjoy your learning, and remember to keep sending me pictures - they really do brighten my day! Today we have a picture of Laura working hard - great effort Laura!
I will be setting up the Teams meeting, ready for tomorrow at 10:00, so remember to look on here later for instructions on where to find your invite.
Scroll down to find Wednesday's learning.
Happy Tuesday everyone! You're making me very proud with all the hard work you're doing. Remember, everything will stay on the website until after we return to school, so don't worry if you're not doing the work on the same day that I'm posting it on the website, you can catch up when you're able.
Important event!
On Thursday at 10.00 am we are going to have a Microsoft Teams meeting. I hope that as many of you as possible are able to join us on Thursday. It will just be our class at that time. We will do some work together, and experience what it is like to join a Teams meeting. Please spend time between now and Thursday to make sure you have Microsoft Teams set up, and I'll give you more details tomorrow.
Good morning everyone, I hope you are all well and had a lovely weekend. Today, we start the week with maths, and we are subtracting two 4-digit numbers with more than one exchange. In Reading Comprehension, we are going to look at a non-fiction text about teeth. Today you need to read the text to yourself, then read it to an adult and discuss with them what the text is about. More tasks will follow, similar to last week. There will also be grammar and spellings activities this week, and another science task. How did you get on with your bug hunt? Xavier sent me a lovely picture of him hunting in his garden with his brother! We will also be editing and improving our stories about Robin Hood meeting Little John.
Scroll down for today's work. Please keep in touch - it's great to hear from you all and share your pictures.
Good morning Deer Class! Scroll down for Friday's work. Today, we are subtracting two 4-digit numbers with one exchange. Have a go at the extension when you're finished. In English, you have the rest of the questions for Reading Comprehension. Also today, I would like you to listen to the story of how Robin Hood met Little John, and then I would like you to rewrite the story in your own words. Use the story planner to help you. Keep your story somewhere safe, because next week I will be helping you to edit it, ready for a final version. Yesterday, I posted Mrs Cooper's music tasks, and today I'm posting the video which accompanies her tasks.
Please email if you need any help with any of your work, or just to say hello! I'll be posting more photos later too.
Good morning everyone! For Thursday's learning, we are subtracting a 3-digit number from a 3-digit number with an exchange. Be careful to keep your digits carefully aligned in the correct place value. For Reading Comprehension, I am posting the first set of questions based on 'Virtual World'. Look out for the comments in red, which are from me, giving you a bit of help! Mrs Cooper has sent us some music activities for you to have a look at. Email me if you need any help!
Scroll down to find Thursday's work.
Good morning Deer class - and welcome to Tuesday's learning! It was lovely to hear from some of you yesterday - remember you can email me and let me know how you're getting on.
We, as teachers, are asking a lot of your parents. They have suddenly been asked to support you with your learning, alongside juggling their own jobs and other commitments. Please listen to them, and work with them - they love you and want to help you with your education. I appreciate that some of you might be sharing devices with brothers and sisters, or need to wait for parents to have the time to help you. This is not a problem - everything will remain on the website, so if you need to take more time to complete the tasks, or maybe finish off during half term, that is ok. Nothing will be taken down from the website, so complete the tasks at your own pace.
Maths today is subtracting a 3-digit number from a 3-digit number with no exchange. Try your very best - that's all I ask of you in the classroom, and I expect you to try your very best at home too. Those of you who would like the extension task, just email me. If you need help, I'm here - just email.
In English, we are looking at dictionary definitions. Read through the text again, ready for your questions later in the week. We are also looking at prepostions in grammar. Look at the powerpoint and complete the worksheet.
Keep in touch! I'd love to know how you're getting on. Mrs Graves is planning another Rockstars Battle - watch this space!
Hello children!
Hope you're all well. How did you get on with the maths this morning? Don't forget, you can email me if you get stuck, or just to let me know how you're getting on and tell me what you're up to!
Mrs Ingamells has posted lots of lovely activities to keep you busy. Just click on the menu, then choose the 'children' option, then the 'sport' option to see what she's planned for you. Or click on this link https://www.hawthorntree.co.uk/sport/
Have fun!
Keep safe. Don't forget to keep checking back to the website every day for more tasks.
Working from home is likely to mean more time spent on computers, tablets and the internet. Therefore it is incredibly important to ensure you are being safe whilst you are online. Please take some time to look at, and complete, the slides and activities below to make sure you are doing everything you can to stay safe!
Good afternoon All,
Due to the current situation, learning will be taking place remotely. For this weeks learning, I will be posting work for each day on our class page, to hopefully make it easier for you. Either complete on paper or ideally, use the blue homework book, that was given out on Friday. As for 'Parents evening', this will still be going ahead and I look forward to speaking to you.
If you could please encourage your child to ensure they keep up with their reading, practicing their timetables on TTRockstars and handwriting skills, this will be a huge benefit on our return.
If you or your child do have any questions, concerns or just want to let me know how you are getting on, please do not hesitate in contacting myself. It is always nice to hear from the children!
Please take care and look after each other.

It is essential that children continue to read during this time. Click on the link below from Oxford Owl for a selection of eBooks that are available for free if you sign up to the site. It is a fantastic resource with an excellent selection of books. I hope you find it useful.
Boston Library online.
From the following website you can access ebooks, eaudiobooks and emagazines for free. All you need is to be a member of the library (which is free to join) and a pin number which is available from the library. This is a fantastic resource and one I use regularly myself. Click on the link below.
