Around the World Day - Tuesday 12th July
Year 4 - Italy - further details in the letter below.
Our Trip to the Guildhall, Boston!
Today we visited the Guildhall Museum where the Pilgrim Fathers were locked up following their failed escape bid at Scotia Creek. We were able to experience what it was like for them in the two small cells that held up to ten men and had the opportunity to reflect on some important religious reasons they were attempting to flee.
Welcome to Year 4!
We hope you've had a lovely break, and are ready to start a new year of learning with us.
We have lots of exciting new topics to explore, trips to go on and lots of opportunities to enjoy your learning.
Some information for parents:
Indoor PE is on Tuesday, and outdoor PE is on Thursday. PE kit needs to be in school on these days, and will be sent home each Thursday. Unless it is wet, we will go outside for PE on a Thursday. If it is cold, please make sure your child has some warm clothes to wear over their PE kit - leggings, joggers, fleece as appropriate. Plimsolls are needed for indoor, and trainers for outside. Please name clothing - it makes it easier for us to make sure children have lost property returned to them.
Maths homework goes out on a Monday to be handed in on a Friday. If your child is struggling with homework, please ask during the week. Don't leave it until Friday!
Spellings will be tested each Wednesday.
There will be an optional homework menu which will be handed out each half term, and the children can choose any options they would like to do. The options will be based on topics we are covering in class.
Children are encouraged to read 2 or 3 times a week, and their reading record book should be signed by an adult.
TT Rockstars is a brilliant way to learn quick recall of times tables, and your child will be encouraged to practice at home, and to participate in our tournaments.
If you have any concerns or queries, please do come and talk to us. We want to work with you to make sure that your child has the best possible experience of learning at Hawthorn Tree School.
