  • Hawthorn Tree pupils WIN The Lincolnshire Young Environmentalist Award 2023!

    Fri 26 May 2023

The Lincolnshire Young Environmentalist Awards recognise and reward the enthusiasm, hard work and commitment of young people. The awards aim to foster a sense of responsibility for the environment and reward schools, groups, clubs and individuals for the fantastic achievements that are being made.

Children within the Grow with Nature Club at the school were entered into the competition and were selected as one of six finalists in the competition. Four children, George (Y6), Julia (Y6), Arturas (Y4) and Ramona (Y3) from the club attended the final at Whisby Nature Reserve on behalf of the club and had to present to the judges and answer questions about the project. They were superb and showcased the efforts of the club brilliantly, bringing home the trophy!

We have come a long way from the gardens initial starting point where it was a landscape of mud and concrete! The children's designs are now coming to life thanks to their vision and hard work at the club each week.

Green spaces are so important for the environment, wildlife, personal and social wellbeing. Our children are passionate about this and are excited to see the space continue to develop and thrive in the future.

We must thank the continued support of our local community towards this project; friends, family, Boston College, Dobbies Garden Centre, Gleeson Homes and volunteers from Greencore Group Boston! A special thanks must also go to Mrs Ingamells, Mrs Walmsley and Mrs Carder for their time, commitment and enthusiasm for the club.

CONGRATULATIONS TO OUR 'GROW WITH NATURE' CLUB MEMBERS!

  • Sensory Path created in the Garden Area

    Thu 04 May 2023

Many thanks to Boston College for coming into school last week and building an amazing sensory path for the children. You may remember that the children took part in a garden design competition and how lovely to now see this all come to life. The team of students from Boston College worked incredibly hard on the grounds work needed to complete this. This is now a lovely area for the children to enjoy during their outdoor lessons and team building sessions. A big thank you to Gleeson Homes for providing the materials free of charge as well- we couldn't have done this without this support. A big shout as well to to Mrs. Ingamells for organising all of this as well.
