Year 2 - Mrs Jenkins

Ducklings have started to arrive! How excited has everybody been today!

Today we have been following our Sketchpad designs in computing to create our rockets.

In RE we have been learning about Palm Sunday and making our crosses.

In Art we have enjoyed recreating the work of Antony Gormley. We have designed and created sculptures using natural resources, clay and lego.

In computing we have been talking about how to keep safe online and why it is important to not share information.

Thank you to Mrs Adams for volunteering to come in and bake dinosaur biscuits with our children go finish off our topic.

On Tuesday 3rd December, KS1 performed their Christmas Nativity of 'A King is Born' to the local community. It was lovely to have some past members of staff come back and enjoy the performance as well as the local nursing home of The Haven. The children are now VERY excited for their parents to come and enjoy the shows on Monday 9th and Tuesday 10th.

What a busy but fun day we have had raising money for Children in Need and creating Fossils and learning about Dinosaurs in our Dino Workshop. Children started the morning off with a fun run!

Today as part of our topic on our local area the children spent time modelling and creating their homes. They worked together with their partners and came up with some lovely creations.

Reading Cafe: Thank you to all who came to share books with your chid. We enjoyed books, drinks and biscuits together. I know not everyone could make it but don't worry all the children had fun sharing story sacks with Miss Robinson and Mrs Rodgers. It was lovely to see all the children engaged in their reading.

In Science we have been collecting any signs of Autumn that we can use to create our Transient Art pictures. After completing these we were able to use the leaves and twigs to help create Hedgehog Hotels as part of our learning on animals that hibernate in the winter.

In RE, Mrs Rodgers and Miss Robinson have been helping us to make our very own dolly peg Vicar's.

Space day was a great day. Lots of fabulous costumes nad a great turn out from parents to help their child make rockets. We had some extremely creative ideas demonstrating innovation and team work to build our rockets. Well done and Thank you all for your support!

In Maths we have been reminding ourselves of place value and how to use different equipment to help us count. We moved quickly on from using equipment to being able to draw tens and ones using pictorial methods to represent the tens and ones.

Welcome back to a new school year. I hope your child has settled in nicely. All children have been excellent with their new routines and have been learning place value in maths and are learning about Tim Peake in English. We had a walk down to see the new school library and the children were very impressed and loved looking at books in the new cosy environment.
