Display the and explain that today we are going to conduct our own art experiment to create this effect.

Ask the children how they think the design was created.

Pour ½ cup-1 cup of salt into a plastic sandwich bag

Out 10-12 drops of food colouring into the bag

Squish the salt around the bag until the food colouring covers the salt evenly, add more colouring to make it brighter if required.

Leave the salt in the bag overnight to dry then use the next day.
