  • Head Teacher Announcement

    Tue 29 Sep 2020

    Dear Parents/Carers,

    I am writing to you to announce that I am leaving Hawthorn Tree School at the end of December 2020 in order to take up the post of Head teacher at Westgate Junior Academy in Lincoln starting January 2021.

    The past two years in my tenure as your Head teacher have been wonderful and I'd like to thank all of you, as a community, for the support I've had from day one. There are many special people at Hawthorn Tree and I cannot begin to thank all of the leadership and teaching teams, administration and mentoring departments, maintenance and lunchtime personnel and governing body for their hard work during my time in Boston. Finally, I certainly cannot forget the pupils whose fantastic attitude and character I've had the pleasure of experiencing every day since September 2018 which has made my job incredibly enjoyable.

    I look forward to completing the remainder of the Autumn Term as your Head teacher and I wish everybody connected to the school all the very best for the future.

    Yours sincerely,

    Mr J Kelwick

    Head teacher

  • Covid symptoms and attendance

    Mon 14 Sep 2020 Katie

    14th September 2020

    Pupils with covid symptoms – what we will advise you about attendance

    Dear Parents/Carers,

    We are writing to you regarding clarification on questions whether your child should attend school after receiving a number of calls to the school office this morning.

    Parents will inevitably phone or email the school during this time with concerns about coughs, temperatures etc. There will be questions on whether children should attend. Our answers are simple. If pupils demonstrate any of the following;

    •             A high temperature (above 37.8⁰c).

    •             A new, continuous cough – this means coughing a lot, for more than an hour, or 3 or more coughing episodes in 24 hours.

    •             A loss or change to sense of smell or taste – this means they cannot smell or taste anything, or things smell or taste different to normal.

    •             Other siblings should also NOT attend until the test outcome is known.

    We strongly advise you get a test.

    The next step would be….

    •             Get a test to check if they have coronavirus as soon as possible.

    •             Stay at home and do not have visitors until you get the test result – only leave your home to have a test.

    •             Anyone you live with, and anyone in your support bubble, must also stay at home until you get the result.

    What will we do if pupils have a cough in school? We will;

    •             Do a temperature check.

    •             Monitor for symptoms as listed above.

    •             Phone parent/carer and check if any symptoms have been evident in past 24-48 hours.

    I hope this clarifies and helps you should you find yourself dealing with your child in such circumstances.

    Yours sincerely

    J. Kelwick, Head teacher
