Yesterday, our School Council members visited Boston Borough Council. The children had the opportunity ask questions to the Mayor and the head of Boston Borough Council in the Mayor’s chamber. They had an insight into the roles that people play who work for the council (180 people working at the council) and the role of the Mayor (more civic duties and ceremonial).
The children were able to see the CCTV cameras that oversee Boston and neighbouring areas, maintaining safety in the area- they found this very exciting.
Children also looked at the Charter from King Henry VIII, Queen Elizabeth and King Charles with seals of approval. There were some wow moments here when they realised that some of these documents were hand written, very old and actually signed by royalty!
The children were a real credit to the school and asked very poignant questions related to local issues as well as demonstrating their historical knowledge. Well done School Council!
