Pastoral Support

At Hawthorn Tree Primary School, we believe that every child deserves to feel safe, valued, included and supported. Our pastoral offer is designed to nurture emotional wellbeing, build resilience and provide the right support at the right time, enabling every child to thrive both academically and personally.

Through a wide range of in-school support and external partnerships, we help children with their emotional, social and mental health needs. Our provision includes ELSA, Lego Therapy, Drawing and Talking, sensory circuits, regulation strategies, trusted adults, safe spaces and personalised pastoral support plans. These interventions support children to develop confidence, self-esteem, emotional regulation and positive relationships.

We also work closely with a range of specialist services, including the Mental Health Support Team, Healthy Minds, bereavement and loss services, behaviour outreach, counselling services and Safe Families. These partnerships ensure that children and families can access additional guidance and specialist support when needed.

How Parents Can Access Support

We recognise that parents and carers know their children best and are key partners in supporting wellbeing. If you have any concerns about your child's emotional wellbeing, mental health, behaviour, attendance or any challenges they may be experiencing, we encourage you to speak with your child's class teacher or contact the school office to arrange a conversation with a member of our pastoral team.

Together, we can discuss your child's needs, identify appropriate support and, where necessary, signpost or refer families to relevant external services. We are committed to working alongside families to ensure every child feels happy, safe and ready to learn.

At Hawthorn Tree, our pastoral approach is built on strong relationships, early intervention and a commitment to understanding the unique needs of every child. By creating a caring and inclusive environment, we help pupils feel connected, develop resilience and flourish both socially and emotionally.
